The Literature Marathon is an event for everyone interested in German literature about running. The 27th edition presents a line-up of authors who will read from their oeuvres to an open audience. It traditionally is the event to set off race week. All lectures are free and will be held in German.

Matthias Politycki (Hamburg), "42,195. Warum wir Marathon laufen und was wir dabei denken"
He has published novels, stories, poems, essays and audio books and is known as the globetrotting German author. His rise to fame was primarily due to his novel Weiberroman and his cruise ship satire In 180 Tagen um die Welt. Some of his articles, in which he entered into or provoked debates in the newspaper feature pages, similarly attracted a great deal of attention.
