For runners who are visiting Berlin and do not want to miss out on running!

border="1" />Runners in Berlin are invited by SCC-RUNNING to join in several

races at the turn of the year.

You can burn off calories in the Grunewald Forest on the day after

Christmas, on December 26, 2002, at the 4th Berlin "Burn off the Christmas

Goose" Run. Bernd Hübner invites you to join in the ultimate running

recreation in the forest. Santa Claus traditionally joins in the run with a

goose under his arm. We will all jog together for 60 minutes. There will be

Christmas cookies and coffee at the finish in the stadium.

The meeting point is 10 a.m. at the Mommsen Stadium, Waldschulallee 34 in

Berlin-Charlottenburg. You can shower and change in the stadium. No

preregistration is necessary, just come and join in.

At the turn of the year there are two traditional races organised by

SCC-RUNNING.

  • the 27th Berlin New Years Eve Run - the "Donut Run" - on Tuesday, December 31st at 12:15 "Around the Teufelsberg Hill",
  • the 32nd Berlin New Years Day Run on January 1, 2003 at 12:00 noon at the Brandenburger Tor.

Both traditional races belong to the end of the year rituals of the Berlin

running community. The "Donut Run" has established itself over the

past few years as a costume run. Shortly before the first start at 12 noon

there is a competition for the best costume (you have to be able to run in it,

too!).

So far, 675 runners have registered for the 4 competitions for the 27 New

Years Eve Run on December 31, 2002, and a total of about 2,000 participants is

expected. (2001: 1,896 runners).

Registration is possible on December 31, 2002 until 12:15 at the start.

Waldschulallee 34 in Berlin-Charlottenburg - Sport hall im Mommsen Stadium.

On January 1, 2003, at 12:00 noon, the meeting point for the Berlin running

community is the Pariser Platz at the Brandenburg Gate. The 32nd Berlin New

Years Day Run is only 4 km. The FUN RUN takes you down the boulevard

"Under the Linden".

This run, which is a fun running demonstration with musical instruments

without any competitive character, is also a solidarity race for UNICEF, to

raise money for the United Nations Childrens Fund. Instead of an organisational

fee, the participants are asked to bring along a donation. You do not have to

register, just come and join in, and help "run in" the New Year

2003.

You have to come ready to run for this race?there are no changing or

showering facilities available. If you want to run more kilometres than the 4

km offered, you can add on a few rounds in the Tiergarten park.
