Race organisers of the Baxters Loch Ness & Marathon & Festival
of Running have announced that international runners will have
guaranteed places in this year’s Loch Ness Marathon and River Ness 10K,
which takes place on Sunday 2nd October in the Scottish Highlands.
Larger Field
All entry is online at www.lochnessmarathon.com.
International runners have up until 1st September to enter, although
organisers are expecting a larger field this year and are encouraging
runners to enter early to avoid disappointment.
This year’s Festival of Running is promising to be one of sporting
prowess, fun and festivities with Scottish Highland hospitality at its
very best. The race weekend kicks off with a pre-race Baxters Pasta
Party, and race day celebrations with pipes & drums, Scottish
ceilidh bands, and a Monster Highland BBQ at the finish line.
2nd best UK running event
The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon was recently voted 2nd best UK
running event in 2004 in an online poll for Runners World (UK)
magazine, with the River Ness 10K voted 6th.
Malcolm Sutherland, Race Director, said: “With the marathon, 10K and
5K Fun Run we now have a race for everyone, which combined with the
spectacular Highland scenery, and festival atmosphere has captured the
imagination of runners worldwide. We’ve had excellent feedback from our
runners and with plans already well underway for 2005, we are expecting
a large field again this year.”
