Countdown: 11 days to go - A lot of paper for runners

A lot of huge numbers arises at mega events such as the BMW BERLIN MARATHON. This applies of course also to the bib numbers. For the production of the bib numbers, nearly 4000 square meters of paper had been used. That’s a weight of round about 500 kilograms.

To fix the bib numbers on the t-shirt or at the bib number straps, 240.000 holes have to be perforated into the numbers, the same number of safety pins are needed as well.
All participants are looking forward to the  information brochure, where all arising questions and answers are collected. On 12.000 square meters these information will be visualized and available for the participants. They all receive the information booklets together with its 1,25 km wire in form of staples, which have a total weight of 1 ton.
One thing, however, is printed for only two participants, the finish line tape. 4.5 m long and 25 cm high and it will be hold up when the fastest man and the fastest woman crosses the finish line.
