IAAF org.: Johnson looks for second Great Run victory

Saturday 9 October 2004 Australian Benita Johnson, the reigning IAAF World

Cross Country champion and South Africa’s Hendrick Ramaala are the star

attractions of Sundays (10 Oct) BUPA Great South Run 10 miles race in

Portsmouth, England, which has attracted a 15,000 entry.

Johnson targets flat, fast course

The 25 year-old Australian races only a fortnight after she destroyed a world

class field to win the Great North Run half marathon in Tyneside,

England.

”Now Im hoping to run reasonably quick and hopefully I can get in with

a group of guys who will get the best out of me," said the 24-year-old

Aussie star. Johnson hasn set herself a target, although well aware when

training partner Sonia OSullivan set a course record of 53 minutes dead for the

10 miles race two years ago, it was then a world’s best.

"I haven a clue how fast I can run and Im not really aiming for a time

but its very important that I perform well and hopefully clock up another

victory ...
