Derartu Tulu on Sunday aims adding her name to the distinguished
list of Olympic and World 10,000 metres gold medallists who have won
the BUPA Great Caldeonian Run.
Past winners of the 10 kilometres road race which is returning to
the streets of Edinburgh after a seven years sojourn in Balmoral,
include Olga Bondarenko and Liz McColgan.
Bondarenko winner of her Olympic title in Seoul 17-years ago claimed
her victory in 1994 while McColgan the 1991 World champion has twice
won the race.
Now Tulu albeit over a brand new city centre course, starts
favourite to become the first woman to collect the top honours on the
return of the meeting to the Scottish capital. But despite a genuine enthusiasm for the event and the opportunity
to visit Scotland for the first time, the Ethiopian admits her
magnificent career might be approaching an end.
