FAQ - BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Inlineskating

Important Information at one Glance

We have summarized the most frequently asked questions and answers here. You may find the right answer to your question.

Event

  • The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON will take place on September 28, 2024 for inline skaters.
    The start is at 12:20 pm on Straße des 17.


Registration

  • Registration for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Inlineskating 2024 was possible online via your personal user account from February 1, 2024 to August 29, 2024*.
    Registration is closed. Late registration is not possible.


  • We can correct any transposed numbers or typing errors in your name or date of birth. Simply get in touch with us via the contact form and we will edit your details.

    Please note: It is not possible to swap participation (complete name change)!

    Has your address changed? You can edit it yourself in your user account under “My account”.


  • From the adidas event shirt to the medal engraving, you can order (almost) all extras and services via your user account under “My registrations > 2024 > BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Inlineskating > Products”.

    The only exception is the insurance.

    For adjustments or cancelations of individual products, please contact us via the contact form. Please note that the participation fee cannot be canceled or refunded.


  • You can adjust your best time in your user account under “My registrations” up to and including 23.09.2024.


  • If you have booked cancellation insurance when registering, you can claim this in your user account under my registrations -> BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Inlineskating. 
    We ask for your understanding that due to the logistical and organizational complexity of the event, participation fees cannot be refunded. You can find detailed information on this in our conditions of participation.

    Transfers to another person or another year are not possible. Your race entry is bound to the event and person.


Race Material

  • You can get your race material at the MARATHON EXPO.

    The opening hours are:
    Thursday, September 26, 2024: 3 pm – 8 pm,
    Friday, September 27, 2024: 10 am – 8 pm,

    *subject to change
     


  • You will need your start card and a photo document (ID card, passport or driver's license). 
    You will received your start card at the beginning of september.


    • your personal bib number in 2x version
    • athlete wristband, which will be placed around your wrist at the entrance to the EXPO and is your access authorization to the start area
    • Safety pins to attach the bib number
    • clothing bag and label
    • Helmet sticker with your bib number
    • Wristband to count your laps ⇒ slide the clip on after each lap

     


  • No! The pick up of the race material by another person is not possible, not even with a power of attorney! It is also not possible to send you the material.
    In the process of the race material pick up we also put on your athletes wristband, which is, together with your bib number, required to be allowed to enter the Start/Finish area. This will ensure that only registered participants take part in the BMW BERLIN MARATHON 2024.

    Please remove your athletes wristband after you have left the finish area on race day.


  • You can pick up all pre-booked items from the event collection together with your race material at the MARATHON EXPO 2024. The additional services you have booked will be displayed on a tear-off on your bib number.

     


  • Our multilingual medical team from various specialties offers on-site health and emergency consultations and is happy to answer your questions. In case of a health risk, our doctors will give you advice and help. When you do a free medical check- up at the MARATHON EXPO and the doctor advises against your participation in the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, we will give you a voucher over a share of the registration fee. To attain the voucher give back your bib number and provide your anonymized data for sports medical purposes. The voucher is person-related and only valid for the event in the following year with submission of the medical report.

Event Day

  • The nearest public transport stops are:
    Underground: Friedrichstrasse or Unter den Linden (U6), Brandenburg Gate or Bundestag (U5), Potsdamer Platz (U2).
    S-Bahn: Central Station or Friedrichstrasse (S3, S5, S7, S75), Brandenburg Gate or Friedrichstrasse (S1, S2, S25)
    Regional train: Hauptbahnhof (Central Station)

    From 26.9. (00:01) to 30.9. (03:00), all participants can use public transport in the ABC fare zone free of charge. You will receive your ticket with your start card from us by e-mail. Your bib number is also valid as a ticket.

  • The start is on the Straße des 17. Juni at the height of Bellevueallee.

  • The skaters start on Saturday 28.09 in different starting blocks:

    12.20 Top Men/A-Block (<1:08h) 
    12.21 Top Women/A-Block (<1:20h) 
    12.23 B-Block (<1:18h) Fitness
    12:25 C-Block (<1:26h) Fitness
    13:14 D block < (1:40h) fitness
    13:19 E-block (< 2h) fitness
    13:23 F block (< 2:10h) fitness

    The allocation to a specific starting block is based on your specified best or target time.
    The best time can be changed in the user account under “My registrations” until September 22, 2024, 23:59 (CET). 

    You will find your starting block assignment on your bib number.

    It is not possible to change your starting block at the MARATHON EXPO. 

     Please arrive at the event site early, i.e. at least one hour before the start, so that you can prepare for your start without stress.

  • The following things should not be missing:

    • your personal bib number
    • your athlete wristband
    • your helmet

  • This year, all skaters will receive their bib number in duplicate. Both numbers must be worn during the race. There is a timing tag on the back of each number.
    Please do not bend it.

    Please attach one bib number to each of your thighs. Attach the bib numbers clearly visible and upright on the outside of your thighs. The start numbers must not be worn above the hips or crosswise, otherwise your time cannot be measured. 


  • You can drop off all of your personal belongings as long as they are not on the prohibited items list. You can also take your roller skate bag to the start/finish area. 
    Avoid bringing valuables; we are not liable for losses.


  • The letter on your bib number corresponds to the starting block (A-F) that is designated for you.


  • No, the start/finish area is only accessible to officially registered participants. 
    To cheer you on from the first meters, your loved ones can use the grandstand directly behind the start. There are also grandstands directly in front of the finish line.


On the Course

  • In 2024, the route is a circuit that has to be ridden 5 times. As usual, the start and finish are at the Brandenburg Gate. You can see exactly where the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON will take you on the course map.


  • -Any support vehicles (cars, e-scooters, bicycles and motorcycles).
    -Strollers of any kind
    -Animals


  • Please fill your water bottle before the start and stow it in your race clothing.
    Emergency supply point at Ernst-Reuter-Platz, this is on the right-hand side. 

     


  • There are also porta potties after the aid station.


  • The medical team, cycling doctors, medical aid organisations and patrols of the Berlin fire brigade will be there for you in the start/finish area and 
    on the course to provide first aid. Don’t be afraid to talk to our staff if you have any issues or pain. This also applies if you notice emergencies among other participants.


  • The time limit for 2024 is 2:10 hours (from crossing the start line)

    Participants who are slower than the time limit must leave the official route and continue skating on the sidewalk or will be taken to the finish in a broom bus. Only participants who skate across the finish mat by the end of the race will receive an official result, a medal, refreshments and a massage.


After the finish line

  • You can find your result in the results list on the event website under “Your race”. Your certificate will also be available for download there.


  • There will be an engraving stand in Scheidemannstrasse (outside the event area) where you can have your medal personalised. You are welcome to book this service in advance via your user account. This will be noted on your bib number. The engraving must be done on the day of the event.
    For 12 euros, you can also get the service directly at the stand.


  • Changing areas will be avaible in the finish area. There are no showers on site.


  • Students at physiotherapy centres offer free massages at the finish zone to loosen up your muscles. You are welcome to use this service, but please remember that other participants also want to enjoy the “helping hands” too.


  • Tea, water, ERDINGER non-alcoholic and isotonic drinks as well as fruit (apples, bananas) are available for all finishers in the finish area.


  • There is a family meeting point in front of the Paul Löbe House with signs with the letters A-Z. Arrange to meet your relatives there after your race.


Relatives, friends and interested parties

  • The start/finish area is only accessible to officially registered participants. 


  • Shortly after the start as well as before the finish, grandstands with standing room are set up on both sides. These are accessible to everyone free of charge.


  • Tracking one or more participants is possible via the BMW BERLIN MARATHON APP. Enter the name of your favourites and, if applicable, the tracking code. The participant can find the code in his/her user account. The tracking system will be available for use the week of the event.
