The mark of 20.000 registrations for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON on September 25, 2011, has been reached by Tuesday, December 21st. At 10 a.m. 20,345 runners had registered. This means there are less than 5.000 spots left in the second wave (until 25.000).

Starting 2011 German based motor company BMW will be the new title sponsor of the BERLIN-MARATHON. The contract is running for three years. Despite the rain, Berlin once again experienced a marathon festival! Most of the 7,500 participants at the start made the best of it. The excitement could be felt everywhere at the race. The emotional highlight was once again the bubbling enthusiasm between the grandstands on the final stretch after the Brandenburg Gate.

Giovanna Turchiarelli from Italy and Severin Widmer from Switzerland are the winners of the 37th real,- BERLIN MARATHON Inline Skating. German junior skater Katharina Rumpus surprised with a third place just as Felix Rijhnen with a fifth place. The 14th edition of the Inline race at the real,- BERLIN MARATHON indicated once more that the skaters are not put off by difficult conditions.

Patrick Makau (Kenya) and Aberu Kebede (Ethiopia) had to battle the elements before taking victory at the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON. They were rewarded with 25 points each in the World Marathon Majors (WMM) series. Since both of them collected their first WMM points in their careers they have no significant impact on the current 2009-2010 series. This one will most likely be decided at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, which takes place on 10th October.

The real,- BERLIN-MARATHON will be shown live on the internet worldwide. The new broadcasting partner of the World Marathon Majors (WMM) race, German TV station n-tv, streams the whole programme online as well.

On Saturday it's mostly clouded, especially in the afternoon it will be

raining. Most of the times slight wind from Northwest with a maximum

temperature of 18° C, the lowest temperature at night is 12° C. The relativ

Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot of Kenya ran away from the field to set the Boston Marathon course record, and Teyba Erkesso of Ethiopia won by just three seconds in a thrilling women's finish, as the 2009-10 World Marathon Majors series resumed on a sun-splashed Patriots' Day. Cheruiyot ran the course in a blistering 2 hours, 5 minutes, and 52 seconds, besting the mark of 2:07:14 set by Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot (no relation), also of Kenya, in 2006.

Early as never before, on April 20th, the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON has sold out its 40.000 entries. Less than a thousand bib numbers are left, all of them are charity entries for 142,195 Euro of which 42,195 euro are used to substitute childhood poverty in Germany (RTL Spendenmarathon). One year ago the marathon had sold out 4 weeks later.

Ethiopia’s Eshetu Wondimu has ended Kenya’s win streak at the 30th Vattenfall BERLIN HALF MARATHON on Sunday. The 28 year-old took the race in a fine 60:16 minutes, beating Peter Kirui (Kenya) by just one second in the final sprint. Ethiopia’s Maregu Zewdie took third place with 60:24. A record field of 23,799 runners from 94 countries will compete in Sunday’s 30th edition of the Vattenfall BERLIN HALF MARATHON. Among them is a strong elite field.
