Berlin Marathon World Record ratified by IAAF

The international athletics federation IAAF has now ratified the world record mark of 2:03:38 hrs by Kenyan Patrick Makau at the BMW BERLIN MARATHON on September 25th, 2011. Also ratified was Makau´s world record for 30 km as a split time of the same marathon.

It’s all sold out for the 39th BMW BERLIN MARATHON 2012. At least for the running marathon. Nonetheless, you can still be part of it – in a very face-paced race of inline skaters. 40,000 entries sold out: BMW BERLIN MARATHON 2012 has closed registration

As of today (Tuesday) there are only 1,000 entries left at the BMW BERLIN MARATHON 2012. Those last 1,000 tickets are available for an extra 42,195 euros which is a charitable donation for projects helping children (RTL Spendenmarathon). The field is limited to 40,000 runners. Only 4,000 entries left for the BMW BERLIN MARATHON 2012

Until Tuesday, November 29th, 35,000 runners have registered for the BMW BERLIN MARATHON on September 30th, 2012. The participant limit is set at 40,000 which means that only 4,000 spots are left. Another 1,000 entries are available for an extra 42,195 euros which is a charitable donation for projects helping children (RTL Spendenmarathon). Registration had started October 20th. After four days almost 20,000 had registered.

Over 26,000 runners have already signed in

Two weeks after registration for the BMW BERLIN MARATHON 2012 had started already 26,761 runners have signed in. A year ago this figure had been reached only by mid-January, two and a half months after registration kick-off. Participation limit is set at 40,000. Almost 20,000 entries after 4 days

18.973 runners have signed in by Monday, October 24th at 12 noon, four days after registration for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2012 had started last Thursday. A year ago 5,000 entries had come in after 48 hours and it took eight days to reach 10,000. Registration for the first 10,000 participants was 60 Euros. For the next wave, the registration fee is 80 Euros (up to 25,000), and thereafter it is 100 Euros.

10,000 entries in less than 24 hours

Almost 24 hours after starting online registration for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2012 already 10,000 runners have signed in. There were technical problems during the first two hours after registration had started. A year ago 5,000 entries had come in after 48 hours and it took more than four weeks to reach 10,000. Registration for the first 10,000 participants was 60 Euros.

Registration for the BMW BERLIN MARATHON 2012 starts Thursday, October 20th

At noon on Thursday, October 20, online registration for the 39th BMW BERLIN MARATHON on September 30, 2012 will begin. The limit is set at 40,000 participants. The registration fee for the first 10,000 registrants is 60 Euros. The next 15,000 registrations will have a 80 Euro fee, and the remaining will have a 100 Euro fee. This year the participant limit was reached by February.

Patrick Makau adds further proof of Kenya’s dominance in Berlin

Patrick Makau has crowned the 38th BMW BERLIN MARATHON with a world record. The 26 year-old Kenyan clocked 2:03:38, beating Haile Gebrselassie and improving the record of the Ethiopian by 21 seconds. World Marathon Majors Establishes Position on World Records within Women’s Road Running Performances

At the 2011 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, the IAAF Congress passed a motion to change the standard by which women athletes achieve world record performances. By the new criterion, only times achieved in all-women competitions would be recognized for world record purposes, and performances achieved in mixed conditions would now be referred to only as “world best”.

A look abroad – inline skating in Eastern Europe

Inline skating enjoys great popularity, especially in Eastern Europe. More and more people appreciate the dynamic way of movement on wheels. For the SEB 5th Tartu Rulluisumaraton in Estonia, one of the biggest inline skating marathons in this region, skaters from 13 countries are registered. World Record Holder Paula Radcliffe to run BMW BERLIN MARATHON

Marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe of Great Britain is the top female entry at the BMW BERLIN MARATHON on September 25th. With her and Haile Gebrselassie on the starting line, both marathon record holders are competing in the same race – a premiere on German soil. Thirty-seven year old Radcliffe set her mark of 2:15:25 hrs 2003 in London. The BMW BERLIN MARATHON will be her first marathon after giving birth to her second child in September 2010.

With the BMW BERLIN MARATHON 100 days away, race director Mark Milde announced the return of marathon world record holder Haile Gebrselassie to the streets of Berlin. Here the Ethiopian superstar of long distance running had his greatest success as a marathon runner winning four times in a row between 2006 and 2009 clocking the world marathon record twice (2007 and 2008). His record time of 2:03:59 hrs still stands to day as the mark to beat.

WMM Series leaders Kebede and Shobukhova pace world’s best into London and Boston

The 2010–2011 World Marathon Majors series resumes with a doubleheader weekend, beginning with the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday, April 17, then jumping over the Atlantic for the Boston Marathon the next day.

The WMM series leaderboard is sure to be reshuffled in the chase for the $1 million jackpot. Many of the world\'s top marathoners will be looking to chase down WMM series points leaders Tsegaye Kebede of Ethiopia and Liliya Shobukhova of Russia on the streets of London.

Registration for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2011 has closed as 40,000 entries have been reached by Monday morning, February 28th. The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON takes place on September 25th and belongs to the World Marathon Majors, the five most important marathons worldwide, accompanying the Virgin London Marathon, the Boston Marathon, The Bank of America Chicago Marathon and the ING New York Marathon.
