Before heading out to celebrate in the evening, it is tradition in Berlin to conclude the running year at the Berlin Recycling New Year’s Eve Run and the New Year's Day Run.

Charity places of the RTL program for the 2018 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON are sold out

On Thursday morning, 1,000 charity starting places for the 2018 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON were sold out. We thank you on behalf of the “RTL Spendenmarathon” for the support of the runners. 60 Euros of the payment for those places, will go directly to the RTL Donation Marathon ("RTL-Spendenmarathon") for children in need.

The results of the race entry drawing for the 2018 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON are in

Everyone who entered the race entry drawing (Single runner and Team) from October 18 to November 8 for the 2018 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON will receive an Email from November 30 to December 4 with the results of the drawing.

 

Everyone who qualified as a “fast runner” will receive notification then as well.

40,000 US Dollar for Charities at BMW

As a member of the Abbott World Marathon Majors (AbbottWMM) - which unites the six most significant marathon races in the world, Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York - the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON donated a sum of 40,000 US Dollar to four charity organisations in Berlin.

Marcel Hug and Manuela Schär take wheelchair races at BMW BERLIN-MARATHON

Marcel Hug confirmed his position as the world’s leading wheelchair racer. The 31 year-old took the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON with 1:29:03 and was more than three minutes ahead of Japan's athletes Kota Hokonule (1:32:42) and Ryota Yoshida (1:32:43). Switzerland’s 20 time Berlin record winner Heinz Frei just missed out on the podium and finished fourth in 1:32:46.

Kenenisa Bekele: “I think I am ready"

Between 2001 and 2007, Kenenisa Bekele won 27 races. Over the course of his incredible career, he was Olympic champion three times, won the World Championships five times, was Cross Country World Champion twelve times and won the Indoor World Championships. In 2004 and 2005, he set new world records in the 5000m and 10000m, which still stand today.

The women's elite field for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON on Sunday is ripe with talent, featuring five runners whose personal best is under 2:25. Half marathon time barriers the targets in Berlin

Two significant half marathon time barriers are targeted in Sunday’s Berlin Half Marathon. While the men’s favourites from Kenya intend to go sub 60 minutes on the very flat loop course right through the heart of the German capital the top women runners plan for a pace that leads to finishing times under 70 minutes. Exactly 34,004 runners entered the 37th edition of the Berlin Half Marathon, which is Germany’s biggest and fastest race at the distance.
