We are deeply saddened by the horrendous events at a Christmas market in Berlin. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members of those killed, and we hope for a speedy recovery for the many injured.
On Wednesday morning, 1,000 charity starting places for the 2017 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON were sold out. We thank you on behalf of the “RTL Spendenmarathon” for the support of the runners. 60 Euros of the payment for those places, will go directly to the RTL Donation Marathon ("RTL-Spendenmarathon") for children in need.
Donate and run! On December 7, 2016, we will open up 1000 additional spots for 168 Euros as part of the RTL Donation Marathon (\"RTL-Spendenmarathon\") for children in need. 60 Euros of the payment for those spots, which are limited at 1000, will go directly to the RTL Donation Marathon.
Everyone who entered the race entry drawing (Single runner and Team) from October 19 to November 2 for the 2017 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON will receive an Email from November 30 to December 1 with the results of the drawing.
Everyone who qualified as a “fast runner” will receive notification then as well.
The Berlin Half Marathon is fully booked. More than four months prior to the start on April 2nd, 2017 the participation limit of 30,000 runners has been reached.
Only 1,500 spots are left at the 2017 Berlin Halfmarathon which will take place on April 2, 2017.
The registration for the entry drawing procedure for a chance to participate in the 2017 BMW BERLIN MARATHON begins on October 19 (12:00am CET) and ends on November 2, 2016.

Kenenisa Bekele established himself as the second fastest marathon runner ever, winning the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON with a time of 2:03:03 on Sunday. In a thrilling duel the Ethiopian superstar beat Kenya’s Wilson Kipsang. While he missed the world record of Kenya’s Dennis Kimetto by just six seconds he smashed the Ethiopian record of Haile Gebrselassie, who had won the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON back in 2008 with a then world record of 2:03:59.
For the fourth time in a row, Belgian skater Bart Swings once again won the BMW BERLIN MARATHON Inline Skating. And for the third time, Manon Kamminga from the Netherlands was at the top of the podium. On a perfect sunny day, 5,445 inline skaters celebrated the 20th anniversary edition of the BMW BERLIN MARATHON Inline Skating – cheered on by 250,000 spectators along the course.
Check your equipment for the 43rd BMW BERLIN MARATHON. This includes your shoes, clothing (including socks) and if you use one, a heart rate monitor (e.g. new batteries).
Why only skate, if you can run too? About 100 participants have registered this year to compete in both events, double starting in the inline race on Saturday afternoon and in the running marathon on Sunday morning. One of them is 41-year-old Jorge Botero, from Columbia, a former pro skater and one of the most successful inline skaters in the world.

Abbott World Marathon Majors champion Eliud Kipchoge will start as a hot favorite for Olympic gold in the Rio Games men’s marathon this Sunday, when he aims to take an outright lead at the top of the Series X leaderboard.
The Abbott World Marathon Majors professional series resumes this Sunday at 9:30 am local time, with the Olympic women’s marathon in Rio de Janeiro where Series X co-leader Jemima Jelagat Sumgong seeks to make Games history for Kenya with her second victory of the year.

Once again, one of the greatest highlights of the year for skaters is the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. On September 24 – the day before the running marathon – the city belongs to the skaters: 42.195 car-free kilometres through the capital, 250,000 spectators along the course and packed grandstands along the final stretch behind the Brandenburg Gate.
Registration for the 2017 Berliner Half Marathon opens on April 7 in the afternoon, or as we say: “After the Berlin Half marathon is before the Berlin Half marathon”. The 37th edition of the Berlin Half Marathon will take place on April 2, 2017.
